Gaby + Dan | A Red August Farm Wedding

bride and groom portraits in tall grass

I’m so excited to share this wedding with you today! When the Gaby reached out to me last year about photographing her wedding I was so happy! There was still so much uncertainty in 2020 I don’t think anyone knew what to expect for the future. Gaby was always positive about everything though! If she did worry, she never let me know it! I got to officially meet Gaby and Dan this last December when we did their engagement photos at Red August Farm. They were both so nice and laid back, but yet fun all at the same time! After their session, I just couldn’t wait to work with them on their wedding day!

Wedding Day

The day of their wedding it was nice and toasty, 87 degrees to be exact! I went prepared with extra water and sunscreen! The heat didn’t bother me too much though, thank God for the clouds and occasional breeze! Besides, I was completely pumped to finally photograph a wedding after almost a year of no weddings (thanks, covid)!

Gaby and Dan wanted to share a first look, which I loved! Dan was standing in the tree lined driveway and as Gaby walked towards him, she called his name. As he turned around he got to see his bride walking towards him! They were just precious with their reactions! I am so thankful that they had this moment to share together. I even recall Gaby saying “I am SO glad we did this!”

Their day was beautiful, perfect, and went off without a hitch! The ceremony was short and sweet. The family photos were full of laughs and went so smoothly that we finished a whole 20 minute early and they were able to go enjoy part of their cocktail hour!

Special First Dance

I have to mention the first dances. The traditional first dances happened and were wonderful, but then…. Gaby and her stepdad, Tyler had their dance. They danced to Elvie Shane’s “My Boy” (Girl version) and let me tell you I about lost it! I’ve become pretty immune from crying on wedding days but this right here put a big lump in my throat! Here are just a few of the lyrics. You can hear the song here: My Girl

“She ain’t my blood, ain’t got my name
But if she did, I’d feel the same
I wasn’t there for her first steps
But I ain’t missed the ball game yet
And that ain’t ever gonna change
I could never walk away
Yeah, she’s my baby my whole world
She ain’t my blood but she’s my, she’s my girl

The rest of the reception was a big ol party! Everyone was dancing and enjoyed being able to celebrate together! It was truly so much fun! Enjoy the images from their big day!

Gaby and Dan, thank you so much for allowing me to capture these precious memories for you! It was my honor to be there! Your family is so sweet, and it was great getting to know you guys better. I can’t wait to see you all continue to grow together!
